Embracing the Forgotten

"Embracing the Forgotten" explores memory, imperfection, and the beauty of analog processes. Shot on medium format film and printed in the darkroom using expired photographic paper, each image reflects a moment both carefully composed and materially aged. With only 12 shots per roll and limited prints made, the series embraces slow, intentional creation. The expired paper, its faded whites and deep grays, adds a layer of forgotten history to each print. These imperfections become part of the story. By reviving overlooked photos on abandoned materials, this work reclaims what was once discarded, transforming the forgotten into something quietly lasting. I titled and numbered all the pieces. I was inspired by instant photos that people write on and put on their fridge. For the exhibition, I had all 100 prints hung up in a straight line and I had it open for the public to take any piece that they liked off the wall. It was my way of sharing a memory with the people. I presented this work as a part of the Student Research Conference.
